Sound Sensing Mask
Inspired by new media artists such as MLMA and Petra Cortright who use technology as a vessel for their art, ARROGANT connects the wearer directly with a digital prosthetic. A sound sensor detects any word or sound created by the wearer which in turn, lights up two LEDs placed over the eye area. The Arduino, breadboard, and power source sit in a small pouch underneath the hood of the wearer at the base of the neck. The concept of technology in fashion is nothing new-- ARROGANT moves away from formal design, opting for a street style approach to high-tech fashion. the piece as a whole speaks to a push for newer applications of technology in fashion.
ARROGANT was created using the ARDUINO UNO and code adapted from RUI SANTOS.
