For my final project, I used all the skills I learned from this past semester and incorporated it into this project. I also used some new elements that I haven't done this semester, like the hover element that is able to change the pictures on my site. I, at first, had some trouble getting started with the code and didn't know how to make the site look the way I wanted it to, but with the help of Professor Bradbury, I was able to figure it out. Once I set up the code, I then created each post in Adobe Illustrator, both the original post and the environmental post. That was probably the most time consuming part of the project, but it was worth creating each post instead of screenshotting them because I could make the original and the environmental post look exactly the same. From there, I just had to put each post into my site. I then made the "Earth is Gone" page and I had some trouble figuring out exactly what I wanted it to say. I didn't want it to be too dark, but I also wanted it to be a serious warning. I feel like I did make it kind of dark, but it is the truth, and I feel like a lot of people don't pay attention to pollution and global warming unless it is dark and bleak. With this project, I really aimed to show the effect of social media and how it's just a distraction from the serious issues that are going on in the world. Most of the things we see on social media and the internet don't matter, they just entertain us. They keep us from thinking about the "dark and bleak" stuff going on around us, but ignoring it is not going to fix the problems. We need to stop being distracted and start paying attention to the impending problems that are upon us, because soon we won't be able to fix those problems.
