CONCEPT

When this project was first introduced, I knew I wanted to use it as a way to practice more interactivity using flexbox and hover transitions. I also wanted to create a project talking about an event in the animation industry, and my initial idea was to talk about the shift in styles we’ve seen in movies with Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse and Mitchell and the Machines. However, my attention was turned to Twitter and the heavy controversy that had suddenly sparked because of the movie Turning Red. I drafted out the main points of the argument, that being family-friendliness and relatability, and then added two more for an introduction and conclusion. I decided to format the page as four different colored bars, each representing one of the main characters of Turning Red. I added a page for the concept as well, linking it with a small star icon in the corner. I proceeded to format the title page, and then each one of the four points linked from the navigation page. I hadn’t done any research at this point, so I only gave it the bare essentials, three divs for paragraphs and one image on each page. I added a hover effect to slightly saturate these divs for the added interactivity.

After I formatted each page, I moved onto the research. I found a few websites beforehand detailing the controversy around Turning Red that I could use for my research and argument, and then I compiled my information on a Google Doc, writing out each section and then finding out how to incorporate them into the formatting I had created. I tweaked each page as a saw fit, adding more paragraphs and images where I found needed. After doing this, I cited all of my sources into the list that you will see below!
