About this Project

The ratio of women diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder is around 4:1. However, the correct ratio of austistic women to autistic men is thought to be much closer to even.

Many factors play into this disparity. Our society's gender roles, particularly the idea that young girls are or should be overly sensitive and quiet rather than boistrous and loud, play into this.

The girls are often left forgotten and ignored because they're harder to spot, and they're harder to spot because they've been ignored for so long.

Not everyone's story is like mine. In fact, I can guarantee everyone's story is much different than mine. But I felt like it needed to be told.
