This project was a little difficult for me in the sense of creativity. I was unsure of what to do for my experimental page, but I knew I just wanted it to be entertaining in some way. I only created one experimental page, because I wanted to focus more on the actual exercises, so I could get a better understanding of how to position my boxes and use CSS, rather than struggle to create something on my own. One of the exercises that intrigued me the most was exercise 5, “How Much to How Much.” Playing with what one perceives as the “ugliest color combination” was sort of a struggle for me. A lot of colors I thought would look awful together looked quite nice when there was no context to them. I even asked friends and they struggled too. I also found out that some color combinations deemed “unsightly” in my eyes can be pleasing to someone else. But eventually I found a color combination that made me angry to look at, so I deemed it successful. As for the color manipulation exercise, I really enjoy color pallets and how aesthetically pleasing they are, so this was fun. But I also wanted to see what each color would look like with a dark and light background. The backgrounds give a different “vibe” to the colors in dark and light settings. Personally, I prefer the dark setting. In my experimental exercise, I just wanted to play with colors I liked in a gradient setting. But once I did that, it felt boring, so I added the red/blue smiley face for a focal point, since the background is a little boring. It has that interactive nature as to not bore the viewer.
