Reverend William Logan was a community leader and central figure in the relocation of the Shiloh community from its original site to the present-day location on Hendersonville Road.
William, or “Billy,” as he was often called, was born in Buncombe County in 1858 to Isaac and Mary Logan. He was the oldest of six children with four younger brothers and one younger sister.
The family lived in the Old Shiloh community on 24 acres that William’s father bought from Montraville Patton in 1876. They lived and farmed there until December of 1888 when they sold the land to George Vanderbilt’s estate agent, Charles McNamee.
